How do I unzip my photo download?
Your photos are delivered as a ZIP file, which is a compressed folder containing all your images. Before you can view or save your photos, you’ll need to “unzip” or extract that folder. The steps depend on the device you’re using:
On Windows (PC):
- Open your Downloads folder
- Right‑click the ZIP file (e.g., ColsonPhotography‑GalleryName.zip)
- Select Extract All
- Choose where you want the photos saved
- Click Extract A new folder will appear with all your high‑resolution images.
On Mac (MacBook or iMac):
- Open your Downloads folder
- Double‑click the ZIP file
- macOS will automatically create a new folder containing your photos No extra software is required.
On iPhone or iPad:
- Open the Files app
- Go to Downloads
- Tap the ZIP file
- A new folder will be created with your images You can tap any photo to save it to your Camera Roll.
On Android phones/tablets:
- Open your Files app (or Files by Google)
- Tap the ZIP file
- Tap Extract A new folder will appear with your photos.
If the ZIP file won’t open:
This usually means the download didn’t finish, your device doesn’t support ZIP files, or there isn’t enough storage available. Try downloading again using a stable internet connection, or switch to a computer if your phone struggles with large files.
Once your photos are extracted, you can safely delete the ZIP file. If you still can’t access your images, please contact Colson Photography and we’ll help you get your files.
